I know some of you are split on the whole J Beebs mania, but I’ve got a confession: I’ve been a “Belieber” ever since I did this iChat (yes, an iChat—21st-century stuff for a 21st-century star) interview with him for our September issue:
For anyone not into the teen singing sensation thang, the back-story on Justin Bieber (welcome out from under that rock!), here it is: 12-year-old boy enters a local singing competition in Toronto, boy’s mom posts clips of him on YouTube, people notice, Justin Timberlake and Usher get in a bidding war to sign him, Usher wins, Biebs takes over the world. It’s all been so exhausting that the teen megastar has to get put on voice rest—a lot. But his fingers are working—so I interviewed him by IM for our September issue.

Justin Bieber’s concert movie/bio pic still needs its director. Paramount Pictures confirmed today that Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim will not be joining the 3-D project. The director of the upcoming Waiting for Superman documentary was a name being considered for the project, but his promotional duties surrounding his film on our nation’s troubled public education system prevents him from focusing on another movie at this time. Guggenheim officially passed on the project last night.
At four o’clock in the morning, the screams begin again. The sound ricochets off the pavement of 49th Street, rounding the corner to Rockefeller Plaza, where four and a half hours from now, the 16-year-old pop sensation Justin Bieber will perform on the Today show. Though only roughly a thousand fans can be packed, sardinelike, into the plaza, 12,000 have been gathering for the past two days.
Vigilant cops pace the line with billy clubs and bafflement. A CD signing in a Long Island mall this past November caused such a riot that 35 officers from the Nassau County and Garden City Police Departments
Nick Jonas dished advice for Justin Bieber to Popstar! It’s definitely something we think about but you know, I think that with all of the other young people that are coming up, we wish the best for them. And Justin Bieber in particular, we’ve had the opportunity to meet him a couple of times and speak with him.
And he’s entering into a whole new world, and you know, really being thrown into it all, and we hope the best for him. I think he’s doing a great job so far.. I think the important part of everyone’s journey is finding their own path and doing..

**UPDATE** Justin tweeted that his book is not going to be a memoir! He said, “it isnt a memoir…i teamed up with this amazing photographer robert and he has been taking pictures behind the scenes from before the tour. so the book will include all those pics and im going to tell the story of all that led up from rehearsals until the first night of the tour. Pretty excited about it and think everyone will enjoy the story and the pics…but we can all agree im a little too young to write a memoir, but we can make a pretty great book with lots of exclusive stuff…but i just got a lot more life to live too ” Will YOU still get it?

A group of Seminole High School students got a surprise today — 16-year-old pop wunderkind Justin Bieber, fresh off an Orlando show, showed up at an assembly.
Justin Bieber, who performed at Orlando’s Amway Arena in a sold-out concert Wednesday night, presented the school with a $5,000 donation from Best Buy and the Grammy Foundation. The money will be used on the school’s music program.
